Frequently asked questions

The questions people ask when running a first scan.

The answers

Why is the result shown on Pilot Conform and not on my site?

Because Pilot Conform does the reading. You give a website address; our server fetches its public pages, compares them with a list of known signatures, then shows the report here, on our page. The checked site receives nothing and shows nothing new.

Does the scan change my site?

No. The scan reads the pages the way a browser would without running scripts: it fills in no form, logs in to no account and writes nothing to the site.

Can I scan another company's website?

Yes: the scan only reads public pages, the ones any visitor can open. The service is limited to ten scans an hour from the same address, so it cannot be used to hit a site over and over.

Does the scan say whether my company meets the European AI Regulation?

No. It records observable signs and states the article of the Regulation that makes each one relevant. Some obligations cannot be seen from outside, and a chat widget may be run by humans. Pilot Conform does not give legal advice: see Method and limits.

Why do two scans of the same site give the same score?

No language model takes part in the calculation. The score follows a public grid: same content, same result, and every point is tied to a named signature.

What does "not detected during the scan" mean?

That the page being looked for (legal notice, privacy policy) was not found from the home page. It may exist without being linked there. The report never says it is missing.

Why does a caveat sometimes appear above the score?

When the home page is almost empty without JavaScript, its content is built in the browser. The scan, which does not run scripts, then sees less than a visitor would. The caveat says so, rather than showing a misleading score.
